The Reverend Hays M. Junkin
Priest-in-Charge
Welcome to Saint James web site!
Saint James Episcopal Church is a faithful member of the Diocese of New Hampshire and
The Lakes Region Convocation of Episcopal Churches. We were founded in 1862 and since then our doors have been open to all who seek
the love, grace and forgiveness of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Our purpose and mission is founded in Baptismal Covenant and
in the Summary of the Law articulated by Jesus, " Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your
God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all you mind, and with all your strength. [and) " You shall love your neighbor
as yourself." There is no other commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:29-31) We also believe that it is the
purpose of the church to provide the necessary spiritual tools for each member to carry on their daily ministry in the world. That
is to say that we believe all baptized members are ministers of the Risen Christ and His hands and heart are active in the world.
In
2006 we established three primary goals to guide our ministry together: Christian Education and Youth Ministry, Fellowship, and Christian
Out Reach. These goals guide how we plan our ministry and and spend our resources. We fully support the Episcopal Church's effort
in highlighting the Millenniun Development Goals to end world poverty and we continually seek ways to reach out to the needs of our
local community. We have refurbished our fellowship hall to enhance parish activites to help us grow closer as friends, and we are
always seeking better ways to educate adults and children as life long Christians learners and seekers.
If you are seeking a
Christian community that loves God, that is proud of the Episcopal Church and its prophetic role in the worldwide Anglican Communion,
that seeks to put prayers to work in the way its members live realistically in a broken world, then please feel free to visit us any
time. It would be our honor to welcome you in the name of Christ.
May the true peace of our Lord be always with you!
